ABOUT
AfrikAdemia School Nairobi offers high quality and international education to children coming from the middle and low income segments of the population in the Kenyan Capital. For the first intake, we are catering to the education needs of children aged 2-7 years. And we have plans to cover the complete range of grades for Early Years, Primary and Secondary levels. We are very proud that our school is offering two world-class international curricula used by over 1,800 international schools in over 90 countries around the globe. These are the Intenational Primary Curriculum (IPC) and International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) from Fieldwork Education, a UK based curriculum provider. In addition, a specificity of our model includes a blended learning approach. Children will learn from very early age, every day for 10% of their time in our computer Lab and the rest of the time in the classroom and through a broad range of extra-curricular activities. We are also offering the opportunity to children to learn a second international language either French or German in addition to English and Swahili. Finally, for working parents we offer a day-care option up to 6:00pm.
International Primary Curriculum (IPC)
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum for 5-11 years old. It includes a clear process and specific goals for subject, international and personal learning. The curriculum contains over 100 thematic Units of Learning that will interest, engage and excite the children. Units incorporate a range of different subjects that are linked, explored and connected through “The Big Idea”.
International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC)
The International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) is an innovative research-based curriculum which supports early learning through holistic enquiry and play-based approaches that cover all curriculum areas including personal, social and emotional development. IEYC shifts the focus from measuring outcomes to driving children's learning and development.
Blended Learning - Computers' Lab Rotation
In the 21st Century, computers skills are crucial in order to succeed in the work place and compete in the global market. This is why we believe that it is important children acquire those skills from early age. Moreover technology can make learning fun, interactive and enjoyable for kids. Think of learning Maths with a cartoon. Maths will never be boring again...
Extra Curricular Activities
We offer a broad range of extra-curricular activities. These include team building, fun and exercise through our sports class; our music club where children can learn how to play different instruments such as guitar, drums, flute, violin; our cookery club where children will learn the importance of a healthy diet and how to plan and prepare balanced meals. Through our dance club, we help children develop self-confidence. Last but not least the activities, include also a farming club, a taekwondo club, story telling and drama.
Language Programmes
Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things - Flora Lewis.
It's needless to say how many new doors of opportunities are opened when one speaks multiple international languages in today's globalized world. We want to nurture the culture of tolerance, open-mind and global citizenship in our students. This will be achieved among others through our language programme. Students will have the option to learn in one additional international language such as French or German.
