1.      Fee Structure

AfrikAdemia charges school fees based on a yearly rate of USD 2,500 for Early Years and USD 2,800 for Primary School. The fees are payable on a term basis. There are 3 terms: Term1 September – December, Term 2 January – April, Term 3 May – July.

The USD amount is indexed to the local currency (e.g. Kenyan Shilling) based on an average yearly rate. School fees per term are payable before the beginning of the term. In addition, administration fees are payable that are determined on a termly basis.

2.      Curriculum

AfrikAdemia implements the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) by the Fieldwork Education Organisation.

Fieldwork Education was established in 1984 and since developed the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) that is now the curriculum choice of international and national schools in over 1,800 schools in over 90 countries around the world, teaching more than 250,000 children. Fieldwork Education is a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS). In particular, the IPC was developed in the 1990s in partnership with Shell Corporation schools worldwide for the children of its international workforce.

The curricula are embedded in an international learning community. They  define clear learning goals that are implemented through units (e.g. the IPC has 130 units). They provide assessment for learning programme as well as allows for self-review. The IPC is split up into 3 phases: Milepost 1, Milepost 2 and Milepost 3. Each milepost has three different learning goals: subject learning goals, personal learning goals and international learning goals.

In Kenya, Fieldwork Education curricula are implemented by the Oshwal Academy in Mombasa and the Netherlands School in Nairobi. Also, the Rainbow International School in Uganda and St. Saviours in Nigeria chose to teach that curriculum.

3.      Languages

The founders of AfrikAdemia are fluent in the following international languages (English, French, German) and African Languages (Swahili, Lingala and Tshiluba). Personally, we have benefitted from those languages during our school, higher education and professional lives. We are keen to pass those benefits on and enable children to integrate into other cultures and countries seamlessly.

AfrikAdemia applies a language teaching whereby the national and official languages of the country of operation are mandatory, e.g. English and Swahili in Kenya. Beyond that, we will provide a choice of 2 more languages, e.g. French and German, to be taught. Language immersion programs have the goal of promoting bilingualism and will be implemented gradually, with 10% immersion, 20% immersion and eventually 50% or 100% language immersion.

AfrikAdemia will start early immersion by introducing new languages to young children from the age of 3 years and above.

4.      Testing

We believe in the need to measure learning outcomes but do not over-rely on testing and grading. Children in grade 2 and lower will not be tested, but instead teachers will provide personalized progress reviews.

5.      Daycare Option

We understand that today’s life keeps working parents busy and often for long hours at the workplace. Thus, we would like to offer your children a safe, enjoyable and relaxing environment away from home.

If you prefer to have your child under our care beyond school hours, we offer the option of daycare up to 6pm (at an extra fee).
